The amazing patterns and colors of this buckeye burl piece lent itself to creating two distinct, but intertwined designs: the antique map compass rose design and the contrasting, but similarly-themed, mosaic design that incorporated a seafaring boat and a sea monster. Both reminiscent of old maps.
