Murray Banks, 2016
Ancient Red Gum, Mountain Ash burl
1 1/2”h x 1 7/8”w x 1 7/8"d
Ancient Red Gum has been submerged in mud on the banks of South-East Australia’s iconic Murray River causing the wood to develop a high level of silica and become black rather than its general red colour. The wood is difficult to work with and is very rare; hence I use it on such small pieces. - A.P.
