The significant bark inclusion is inlaid with a mineral mixture that includes turquoise, graphite and mother-of-pearl. The feature ring is done in the style of basket illusion. The rings are cut into the wood, then divided with a pyrography tool to give the impression of individual beads. The butterfly and supporting pattern is inked and painted into the wood then sealed with acrylic before the piece was finished with multiple coats of penetrating oil. A complimentary ring was added inside the inked lip of the vessel. This beautiful Mesquite was harvested from a fallen tree in Nordheim, Texas.
