Ken Deaner

I have been turning wood for over a quarter century.  All of my work spends some time on the lathe but most of the carving coloring, burning and decorating is done by hand off the lathe.   I am a member of the Long Island Wood Turners Association and the AAW.  I served as the secretary of the LIWA for 10 years and President for 6 years. I currently serve as Chairman of the Board. I studied and have been influenced by such fine artists as Binh Pho,  Jacques Vessery and most recently Alain Mailland. My work has been featured on Fios One TV, “The Wood Speaks” and “Woodturning.”  My art is sold in galleries and my pieces are in the collections of both Rock Hall Museum and the Grist Mill Museum on Long Island.  I frequently demonstrate at woodworking shows and teach students at BOCES (Boards of Cooperative Educational Services) technical school. I also give private lessons.
