Wood… a living, breathing entity. Like all things, life eventually fades. I like to repurpose that once living canvas into personalized works of art.
Using the shape and color design experience from my working years in ceramics and the floral industry, I started making bowls. Not just “round and brown”, I started adding paint and dye to my pieces, then eventually texture and other elements. Now I believe that the possibilities are limitless and look forward to exploring outside of the (wood) box. My current style embraces texture, color and techniques that create an illusion of fine porcelain or ancient metal work. I also use my own turned wood platters as an artistic canvas for paint and dye. Transforming a natural wood bowl to the point where you think it’s ceramic or bronze is part of my creative fun.
