The current focus of my work is to combine blown glass vessels with precious metals and gemstones. The glass is mouth-blown and hot formed. Colors are created by adding silver and other metal oxides to the glass formula. The hot finished piece is sprayed with an acid fume to create an iridescent matte finish or left glossy. When cool the glass is further worked by drilling, etching or sandblasting. Metal elements are sterling silver, 14, 18, and 22 karat gold with insets of gemstones and glass. Metal is hot soldered or cast using the lost wax technique. I strive to create a combination that is unique and distinctive. All glass and metal pieces are made by myself creating a total unified small scale sculpture.
