Roots of Creation
Alain Mailland
Wood Symphony Gallery is pleased to present "Roots of Creation", a solo exhibition by the exceptional wood artist, Alain Mailland, who resides and creates in the serene landscapes of the South of France. Mailland's journey, which began as a carpenter, has evolved into a breathtaking exploration of woodturning, where he is among the pioneers of green rather than dry wood turning.
For over 25 years, Mailland has continually pushed the boundaries of his art, weaving movement, and life itself into his creations. His work transcends traditional classifications, blurring the lines between plant, animal, marine, and cosmic. The sculptures seem to pulse with life, echoing the expansive beauty of nature. In Mailland's hands, wood becomes more than a medium; it becomes a conduit for the interconnectedness of all life on Earth. As he sculpts roots and woods mainly native to the South of France, he reveals the shapes of animals, minerals, and plants, demonstrating that we, as humans, are intrinsically linked to the natural world.
We invite you to immerse yourself in Alain Mailland's solo exhibition and embark on a profound journey where art, nature, and the cosmos converge.
