Born in Brussels in 1967 and trained as furniture maker Luc Deroo is involved in the fine woodworking field since the mid 80’s. After exploring furniture making during several years, he’s now focusing on lathe turned multi axis sculpture.
Luc is looking for a certain harmony between concept, material and technique. His minimalist approach emphasizes the most intimate texture of the wood material.
While the multi-axis turning  techniques used are quite complex, the aesthetic of each piece is voluntary stripped. Luc aims for simple forms, elegant, organic, tactile and sensual. He likes to  harvest each piece of wood where it grew as the surroundings also influence the end result. Most of the time, the wood is transformed green to take advantage of the delicate ‘leather’ texture that occur during the the drying process.
